Hand Made Books is a contemporary bindery run by Katherine O’Connell, specialising in combining traditional craft bookbinding skills with modern, eco-friendly and recycled materials to create unique books that have lots of individuality, humour and style.
The full range of notebooks, sketchbooks, yearly diaries (and more!) that are all created by Katherine - each one individually hand made in her workshop - are available to purchase directly from where they were made.
Katherine also can create a personalised, custom made book from her range just for you - chose from her wide range of vintage, original OS maps for a bespoke notebook, or maybe a sketchbook embossed with some inspirational words for the artist in your family.
Hand Made Books is open most Tuesdays - Saturdays (10am - 5pm) but please do contact Katherine directly if you are coming in for a special visit, as occasionally there can be a change to the opening hours.
Katherine also teaches a range of bookbinding workshops at New Brewery Arts, and if you would like to be added to her ‘Student Mailing List’ to be notified of upcoming classes, just drop her a line, requesting to go on The List.
Bookbinding workshops can be booked online via this website. They are very limited in places, to ensure a valuable learning experience for the students, so the places fill up really quickly.
