Explore the hidden treasures on
Sat 29 and Sun 30 June
9.30am-5pm each day
Gloucestershire is fast becoming a number one destination for the arts and June is the month to get out and enjoy the huge variety of visual arts in the county.
Cotswold Open Studios is an artist-led initiative with well over 25 exhibitors (at 16 venues) around Cirencester, now in its third year. The ‘hidden treasures’ (from textile specialists to master craftspeople and from artists and printmakers to sculptors) demonstrate that the Arts and Crafts movement is as alive today in Cirencester as it was in the 19th century.
There are so many creative people tucked away, right on the doorstep, who are throwing open their doors to the public for the weekend. This is a wonderful opportunity to see a working studio; to meet and talk to artists, designers, craftspeople and sculptors; to watch them at work; and to find out about the making process. Many of the venues are in stunning locations with beautiful gardens.
The line-up for 2013 will see some big names, including: interior designer Laurence Llewelyn Bowen; sculptor Adam Binder; ceramicist David Garland; artists Richard Kenton Webb, Paul Hobbs, Darrell Warner, Christopher Johnson, Karen Bowers, Jude McKenna, The Owl Barn Artists, and Wadham Trading with Justine Osbourne; sculptors Stephanie Cushing and Joanna Walker; as well as Wet Paint Gallery with Fiona Mcintyre, Don Cordery and Sophie Ryder.
Here at New Brewery Arts we invite you to visit our on-site craft makers' studios, including Loco Glass - whose fabulous vases are pictured above. While you are here, take in the current exhibition in our gallery (Voices - the new exhibition from Quilt Art – an international group of exceptional textile artists), and enjoy refreshments in our cafe before strolling around our craft shop.
Exhibition at the Corinium Museum
This year’s highlight will be a showcase exhibition representing each venue. The Corinium Museum will host this wonderful show of the best creations in town from Saturday 22 June to Saturday 20 July.
