Taking inspiration from the nearby Cheltenham Literature Festival, this autumn we are exploring how words inspire makers and how text based artworks can communicate with the viewer.
Words quite literally surround us. How could we communicate on a daily basis without spoken and written language? We speak, write, read, sing, chat, text, twitter and so forth. We can immerse ourselves in storytelling, enjoying a narrative, or produce and admire letterforms for their solid shape or fluid lines.
We invite you to step into the world of makers who use letters, words or text in their pieces. They may take inspiration from something as simple as the alphabet and individual words or from the depth of feeling expressed in songs, poetry and literature. Some explore memories and family stories, while others delight in expressing a sense of humour or wish to deliver a message of some kind.

Discover intriguing legible and abstracted responses to the fundamental notion of language.

Exhibiting and selling work at New Brewery Arts
In an exciting new initiative, we welcome proposals from professional artists, groups, educators and curators who want to present new work within the gallery. Our aim is to present a programme of contemporary craft and visual art exhibitions that inspire, excite and challenge people of all ages. We are particularly interested in proposals which engage with our existing education programme.
You can also exhibit in our Pop Up Gallery and in the Craft Gallery Shop.
If you would like to submit work, please see our Show your own work page for information.

You can borrow from £100 to £2,000 and pay it back in 10 equal instalments over 10 months, INTEREST FREE. There is no administrative charge or handling fee.
And finally...
