6 - 9 May
Saatchi Gallery, London
We are proud to announce that for the first time we are taking the gallery to London for Collect 2011, the leading international fair for contemporary objects in Europe.
Collect has an enviable reputation as the premier event for the presentation of work from the best international applied artists by galleries from around the globe.
At Collect we are showcasing established and emerging makers who share contemplative approaches to the layering of materials and exploration of ideas.
One highlight of our gallery stand will be work by Stroud based artist Matthew Harris who creates abstract images that are principally about the translation of drawn marks into cloth.
Through a process of painting, cutting, stitching, patching, layering and piecing, Harris constructs subtle complex images where marks and shapes drift and work their way both through and across the body of the cloth.
The six makers we are presenting at Collect are:
David Gates (furniture)
Matthew Harris (textiles)
Yoko Izawa (jewellery)
Catriona MacKenzie (glass)
Katherine Richmond (jewellery)
Celestino Valenti (metal)
Visit to Collect
On Saturday 7 May we ran a coach trip to the Saatchi Gallery to give our friends and supporters the opportunity to visit this prestigious event.
A good time was had by all.
