Laurie Plant is an artist who teaches Life Drawing and Oil Painting at New Brewery Arts. His knowledge and understanding of the links between art history, theory and practice make his courses distinctive.
He makes drawings, paintings and sculptures of cities, architecture and people, some of which are viewable on his website www.laurieplant.com His work hangs in public and corporate collections: New Star, Equimedia, New Swindon Company, Museum of Modern Art Wales.
The 'Iconic Cities' series of paintings is published by senecioeditions.co.uk and is available in outlets such as The National Portrait Gallery and the Albert Hall. Laurie has exhibited at MOMA Wales, RCA, Discerning Eye, ArtSway, and most recently the Corinium Museum in Cirencester.
Laurie has an MA from the University of Wales and a First Class BA from Lancaster University. He teaches on a freelance basis in schools, museums and art centres and lectures for the University of Wales. Amongst other posts, he has taught in Lifelong Learning for the University of Bath for six years. He teaches people of all ages and gives private tuition to individuals as well as public lectures to arts groups.
