During this 3 week course we look at and gain understanding of how your digital camera works.

Learn about the differences between compact, bridge and DSLR cameras, the advantages and disadvantages of each,  accessories available and the general care and maintenance of the equipment.

We will discuss Auto and Auto Assisted settings, how they work and when we can use them. We will also look at the various options available to us in the camera menu in the various settings selected. We will look at how to take control of your camera in order to increase the menu options available and to maximise our opportunities of increasing our image quality.

Learn about composition and image construction, the use of light, exposure control, points of focus and filters in order to obtain the best images.

Finally you will learn what to do with the images once they are in the camera. Here we will look at transferring the images to our computers or other storage devices, how to prepare them for printing and electronic distribution and some basic methods of manipulating or processing those images to get the best out of them.

Alongside each session there will be opportunities to discuss and explore various aspects of photography and answer any questions that might arise.

After this course you may wish to progress to the improvers photography that will run for 5 weeks from the 31st October
