Please note that the dates for this course are different to the other Summer Term courses. The exact dates are as follows - 11th April, 18th April, 2nd May, 9th May, 16th May
Week 1 - Understanding how your digital camera works. Here we will look at the differences between compact, bridge and DSLR cameras, the advantages and disadvantages of each. We will look at accessories etc. available for such cameras and the general care and maintenance of the equipment.
Week 2 - Looking at Auto and Auto Assisted settings, how they work and when we could use them. Here will also look at the various options available to us in the camera menu in the various settings selected.
Week 3 - Manual settings. Here will look at how to take control of your camera in order to increase the menu options available and to maximise our opportunities of increasing our image quality.
Week 4 – Composition and image construction, the use of light, exposure control, points of focus, filters etc. in order to obtain the best images.
Week 5 – What to do with our images once they are in the camera. Here we will look at transferring the images to our computers or other storage devices, how to prepare them for printing and electronic distribution and some basic methods of manipulating or processing those images to get the best out of them.
Alongside each session there will be opportunities to discuss and explore various aspects of photography, and answer any questions that might arise.
