Explore the world of drawing. The tutor Mark will demonstrate and take you step by step each week through the subject and mediums used to create a drawing full of expression and learn how use the drawing mediums used.

What you will need:
Pencils, soft pastels, charcoal and chalk, ink drawing pens

First class:  26th April
This course starts a week later than the other Summer Term courses and will finish a week later. The last class will be 5th July.



Wk 1. Pencil.
Jugs, Cups and lots of other things. See how pencil can be expressive. Mark making is important in art, see how many you can make. 

Wk 2. Pencil. Nature. Logs, twigs, leaves etc.
See how you can express the “Naturalside” to art. 

Wk 3. Pastels.
The chance to explore this classic drawing medium by creating a Cotswold landscape lots of colour and lots of texture. 

Wk 4. Pastels.
Explore the world of the seascape. Movement and Expression. 

Wk 5. Charcoal and chalk.
Garden scene. Works well together to achieve tone and expressive drawing. 

Wk 6. Charcoal and chalk.
Classic fruit still life. But in black and white. 

Wk 7. Portrait black and white.
Keeping it simple to start with learn how to tackle this difficult subject from prelimary drawings to finishing. 

Wk 8 Portrait colour.
This time let’s use colour to jazz things up.
Wk 9. Ink and wash.
Italian scene. Ink always good for buildings. Learn how to approach the drawing, then ink drawing and the final colour wash. 

Wk 10 Ink and wash.
Now let’s use what we know from last week and use it for a local Cirencester scene.
