On this course you will learn a wide range of relief printmaking techniques that you will use to make original lino prints in black and white and colour.  You will learn about successful registration for multi coloured prints and graduated ink rolling techniques for subtle backgrounds.  We will cover printmaking with and without a press, the best tools and papers to use and how to prepare your images for print.  You will have the opportunity to transfer the techniques you have learned onto woodblocks to extend your knowledge if you would like to and you may also have the opportunity to print onto fabric as well.

The course is suitable for all levels of student, from absolute beginners to those who want to really expand their knowledge.  You will be able to work at your own pace and will be supported and encouraged to make work that you are pleased with.  All basic materials and tools are supplied, but if you want to use specialist printmaking papers there will be a modest charge for these.  You will have the opportunity to work with different kinds of lino, including a soft cut variety which is very easy to cut.

It would be helpful if you brought sketches, photos or other artists' images that you admire as a starting point.
