Titfer tat, fancy a new hat? Need a headdress for a wedding or event? How about a fascinator, a saucer hat or a perky two-piece? Design and make your own - or upcycle an antique topper from a charity shop.

Over 5 weeks you can make a hat in straw, felt or fabric covered bases, decorated with feathers or organza drapes.

First class:
31st October (after half term)

What you will need:
Basic sewing kit, thimble, tape measure and ruler, scissors, plyres/wire cutters, round nosed plyers, pins

We recommend you bring a hatbox to transport hats to and from class.  

Basic materials (eg wire, petersham, stiffners) are included. Straw, felt and trimmings are bought from the tutor at approximately £20 per hat.

  • Blocking different fabrics 
  • How to insert a petersham ribbon 
  • How to wire and manipulate fabrics 
  • How to trim hats 
  • How to finish hats
