This year's MAKE IT celebration of making weekend is themed around our Mechanical World of Robert Race exhibition taking place in the gallery from 3 July to 22 August.
We invite visitors of all ages to come along, be inspired by the exhibition - and
GET MAKING!
Brewery Courtyard in Cirencester will be transformed into a world of Making:
* ‘grow’ a sculpture in the theatre
* transform newspaper with Darcy Turner's mechanical stixx machine (see left)
* make your own automaton to take home
* throw a pot or two in the ceramics studio
* pimp your ride – see if you can win a prize!
* try the Treasure Trail
A wealth of artists will be on hand to encourage you to get truly creative.
Street theatre, dance, and music from local bands and groups will entertain and refreshments will be on hand for those needing a break from the creativity.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Pimp Your Ride!
Brewery Court
10am
Bring your bike, skateboard, scooter, pushchair or wheelchair along and get decorating. Stencil your board, beribbon your bike – whatever takes your fancy, then join in the parade at 2.30pm. The guys from Decimal, Cirencester's skate shop, will be here to help - and will be demonstrating some cool skateboard moves at 2pm.
Street Theatre

Professor Miasma and his assistant Madame Zephyr will be wandering the streets of Cirencester presenting mechanical marvels from their cabinet of curiosities.
Puppet show

The Mysterious Professor Miasma will be telling the history of automated toys in a lively puppet show which can be enjoyed by all ages.
Robert's Marvelous Moving Toy Collection
a demonstration and talk in the Gallery
2pm
Robert will be bringing along some of the moving toys he has collected on his travels to show to children and families. Come and find out how they work and chat to Robert about how they inspire him.

Make your very own Robert Race designed boat automaton, sail it on the ornamental ‘lake’ in the gallery and then take it home to keep.

The Flying Machine
Birds, planes, bugs - all things that fly. Help artists from ArtSpark make a huge working sculpture. Taking inspiration from Robert Race's wonderful creations we will devise our own amazing artwork. All ages welcome. Automata DVDs showing all day.
Darcy Turner Workshop
In the Sculpture Studio
Create amazing sculpture with the help of Darcy’s famous mechanical newspaper machine! (See picture at top of page).
Pot Throwing

Your chance to create your very own pots with Russell Paige, our resident ceramicist.

Garry will be creating fantastic ceramic animals in the cafe. Come and see how he does it!
Open Studios

Watch our resident craftworkers MAKING – glass, cloth, chairs, books, fashion, rings chandeliers, wall hangings and more (part of Hidden Treasures – Cotswold Open Studios).
