Dorothy Reglar at New Brewery Arts Cirencester GloucestershireDorothy Reglar

Studio 8

01285 641109

For one to two months each year Dorothy works with hand-weaving projects in SE Asia.

"I am not a weaver but I have the opportunity to work with silk and cotton weavers in Laos.  Together we produce the fabric for the garments I design and make.  I particularly enjoy working with natural fibres and natural dyes.  Laos is particularly rich in these.  The work I do in Laos is mutually beneficial."

In a new venture for 2013, in conjunction with Steppes Travel, Dorothy will be sharing her expert knowledge on escorted tours to Thailand and Laos.

Her focus will be on textiles, from the revival of the silk industry, through the technology used to conserve rare textile collections, from studying the fabrics of diverse ethnic groups to techniques involved in weaving and the use of natural dyes.
