Ever felt restricted by conventional clay methods? Ever wondered if there was a way to mend broken ceramic pieces? To create forms more intuitively without long, complicated drying procedures? Ever wondered how to make super-fine clay forms?
Paperclay is standard clay with added paper fibre, this gives the clay some exceptional qualities and means it can be used in very different ways to standard clay. Once the paperclay is fired it can be treated in the same way as standard clay. We will be exploiting the amazing qualities of paperclay and looking at paper-thin forms, translucency, joining dry paperclay sections, large additions and inclusions and also some other fun techniques including drilling and dipping. We will start the workshop with some inspiration from other artists using paperclay then get stuck in to our own designs, learning the basics and some advanced techniques along the way. This is a fantastic, intensive masterclass in which to really learn about what you can do with paperclay!
