Learn how to paint a portrait from facial construction, positioning features through to making a piece of finished work to take home.

You will be shown how to plan using a sketchbook and draw the face using simple reference points whilst ensuring they have the best opportunity to gain a good likeness. There will be instruction on keeping focused and how best to encourage ’seeing’ the subject clearly.

Using techniques such as reading negative spaces with tonal planning along with recognising and mixing correct flesh tone will assist greatly in learning how to paint a portrait that can be built upon at home or in their own studio
