Day 1

Students will be shown how to take accurate body measurements and then apply these to a basic block pattern for a shift dress. Confident sewers can add more detail to push their skills!

If students have not brought cloth with them, there will be an opportunity to choose from a selection I have or if nothing jumps out, a great sewing shop is a stones throw away. 2 1/2 metres will be ample and I would recommend a non stretch woven, like a cotton or linen.

We will then cut the pattern pieces out and interline certain parts using a fusible interlining and iron. If time allows, we will begin to sew!

Day 2

Continue with the sewing, checking fit at crucial parts and making any necessary adjustments.

Students will have a finished shift dress and paper pattern to go home with that can be used again and again!
