For those wanting an opportunity to try out and use this fascinating method pioneered by Max Hale. Soft pastels in an impressionistic style gives stunning results
Using your own references of any subject you prefer. Bring sketches, photographs, objects or anything for inspiration you will be taught how to start your painting, planning and first steps.
Then using the method of building values by using colour laying them in close proximity to the last you will learn the way to have vibrant pastel paintings using the non-blend or rubbing method. The technique employs optical blending used by pointilists and impressionists alike in a seemingly haphazard way to produce a very individual painting.
