Ever wondered how patterns are made and want to create patterns for your own design ideas?

This beginners pattern cutting course will introduce you to skills that will enable  you to create a block pattern and adapt patterns using specialist processes and techniques.

Using the half scale skirt blocks you will begin by experimenting with the techniques introduced, including dart manipulation, adding seams and changing the shape and silhouette of a garment by adding and supressing fullness within the pattern.  You will produce half scale patterns and toiles in calico that are based on your own design ideas.

Later in the course you will have the opportunity to produce your own full scale skirt block using personal measurements. These blocks can then be used in the future to create your own designs using the techniques gained during the first part of the course.

No previous experience of pattern cutting is required.
