This class will give you the chance to work large as in the style of Georgia O’Keeffe where emphasis was put, amongst other subjects, on magnification of flower forms which can translate into bold silk paintings for pictures or interiors.
Several styles of silk painting can be used to interpret big and bold flower shapes including the use of anti-diffuser allowing free flow dyes to be blended and controlled without resist lines. Detail can also be added to give texture and focus. Colour blending of silk dyes will be encouraged in a creative approach with no rigid guidelines and allow for a less formal outcome to the paintings.
Specific skills and techniques which will be taught in the course cover design from found images, colour blending, the use of anti-diffusers and dye thickeners.
