Studying a still life composition is a great way to expand and develop your creative practice. It can improve skills in observation and the treatment of pattern, colour and spatial awareness. This two-day course will be based around the study of a still life of fruit and vegetables.
In a twist to the usual approach of using paint or pencil, this course will explore ways in which to translate the associated shapes, shadows and textures of the subject matter using fabric manipulation techniques, thread and hand stitch to produce an experimental textile piece.
Ideally suited to those with some previous hand stitch experience, it may also be of interest to those from other making disciplines who would like to try a different approach to the subject of still life.
