A course for beginners to explore the wonderful medium of watercolour from choosing materials and stretching paper to colour mixing and techniques for applying paint. Simple painting tasks and exercises will build your knowledge and skills.

Over the ten weeks you will continue to build your confidence and knowledge as you explore this wonderful medium.

What you will need:

You will need materials and paper (if you don’t have materials, see list below) but at the first session, materials will be supplied and we will discuss what you will need for future lessons in more detail.

Watercolour Paint
A set suitable for beginners giving a selection of colours such as Winsor and Newton Cotman Sketchers Pocket Box Set (12 half pan) or Winsor and Newton Cotman Delux SketchersPocket Set (16 half pan).

Watercolour Brushes
A selection of brushes specifically for watercolour such as the Pro Arte Prolene Watercolour Brush Set W5 (3 brushes that include 2 round brushes and 1 flat brush). 

Watercolour Paper
A Bockingford Spiral Watercolour Pad 12”x9”, CP (NOT) 300g/m (140lb) would be suitable.

A palette with large and small mixing wells is suggested such as a Jakar large rectangular palette.
