Join print and pattern enthusiast, Meg Harris-Smith, for this festive freehand machine embroidery session.
In this three-hour workshop, Meg will begin by teaching you the basics of freehand machine embroidery, before going on to help you create your own machine embroidered tree decoration. You will have the choice of creating a design by Meg, or make your own.
You will leave the session with confidence in using a sewing machine, using raw edge appliqué, and of course, your own decoration to decorate your tree at home.
This session is suitable for complete beginners. All materials are provided.

Meet Your Tutor - Meg Harris-Smith
Meg Harris graduated with a degree in Fine Art from Staffordshire University in 2008. Since then, Meg has set up ‘May I Design’, describing herself as a print and pattern addict. She uses a domestic sewing machine to create freehand machine-embroidered pictures of local architecture, and also takes inspiration from everyday objects.
Meg adds a pop of colour in an otherwise monochrome palette by using small pieces of fabric, such as the polka dot doors or French knot flowers. She loves the freedom that the wobbly lines of freehand embroidery brings, and hopes her work makes you smile.
