Get into the Hallowe’en spirit and carve your own spooky lino prints in this fun workshop for children aged 6+ and their grown-ups.

Whether you create a haunted house, curious cat, fluttering bat, grinning pumpkin or something delightfully eerie of your own, you'll learn the basics of lino printing with expert guidance from Katy. After experimenting with carving techniques, you'll transfer your design, carve your block and print your artwork by hand and using a traditional press. Younger children can use safe print foam instead of lino if they prefer.

You'll leave with a set of hauntingly good handmade Halloween prints and the skills to keep printing long after the ghosts have gone home, and a new creative skill to enjoy together.

HOW TO BOOK
This workshop is designed for one child aged 6+ and one accompanying adult to take part together.

Book ONE place (£80) for each adult + child pair. You do not need to book a separate place for the adult.

Who is this workshop for?

What you will need:
Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

All materials and equipment will be provided. You may wish to bring some ideas, printouts/sketches of what you would like to carve and print.

Meet Your Tutor - katy upton

Katy is a printmaker creating original, hand printed linocut prints, cards and gifts. She sketches original designs, transfers them onto lino blocks, carves them by hand and prints them by hand using relief printmaking inks and a press or baren. Katy runs Letters & Lino, working from her garden studio in Gloucestershire and is inspired by the surrounding nature and changing seasons.

Katy has recently begun offering workshops in linocut printmaking for both adults and children, and loves watching people who have stepped nervously into the room having never tried linoprinting walk out with a beautiful edition of prints they are proud of, and a big smile on their face! She is always fascinated by the variety of designs her students create, all using the same medium.
