Join photographer Georgina Valentine on this 2-day immersive workshop to learn how to make the most of your smartphone camera.
On day 1 you will explore how light and composition can transform your photography. Throughout the day you will get to know your own phone camera and it’s capabilities, and discover how to make your creative ideas a reality. The day will combine a mix of learning in the studio with practical sessions to put your new skills into practice.
On day 2 your understanding of the incredible role light and composition plays will continue to grow. You will start to use the Pro mode on your camera (if you have one) or a 3rd Party app, there are a number out there, including free ones. Georgina will explain more info follow on this. You will learn how to manually adjust specific settings, such as shutter speed to freeze or blur motion so that you can have much greater creative control over your photography, be it portraiture, landscapes or action that really interests you.
Throughout the workshop you will review and edit photos on your phones. You will leave this workshop with a great understanding of the fundamentals of smartphone photography and be equipped with the skill set to continue your photography journey.

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.
You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Who is this workshop for?
The workshop will explore the fundamentals of photography, so it is most ideal for those at beginners’ level photography.
What you will need:
Fully charged smartphone and charger
Mini tripod for phone – optional
Phone user manual (or download onto your phone)
You will be getting out and about during this workshop – so please come dressed for all weather and bring an umbrella, Should it really chuck it down we will make use of the covered areas nearby the studio.

Meet Your Tutor - Georgina Valentine
Georgina has worked as a documentary and portrait photographer for the past 25 years. Her assignments have taken her across the world for charities and international media, with her reportage imagery appearing in magazines, newspapers and exhibitions.
At the heart of Georgina’s photography is a love of capturing people for who they are, whether it’s a timeless family portrait, a memorable travel shot or a journalistic story.
Throughout Georgina’s career, she has run photography workshops for individuals, organisations, and groups including a camera club for teenagers in a Nairobi slum. She enjoys helping people build confidence in their photographic skills, and then developing their creativity to achieve frame-worthy images.
More recently, Georgina has trained as a Natural Chef and now incorporates food photography into her work – bringing a new flavour to her imagery and teaching.
