Cotswolds based wildlife artist, Cath Hodsman (Associate Member of the Royal Society of Biology), is one of the U.K’s foremost entomological (insect) artists, illustrators, teachers and insect conservation advocates.

Cath believes that the best way to celebrate the importance and relevance of insects in happy, healthy ecologies is to capture their micro beauty and anatomical intricacy through detailed artwork. She uses microscopes in her paintings (watercolours) and sketches in order to achieve this – as such, she has been made an Associate Member of the Royal Society of Biology.

She believes that creative connectivity is one of the best ways to appreciate and conserve the future of insects. Originating from a Higher Education background where Cath worked as a European Officer, she changed career direction when her youngest child started school.

For the last 14 years she has exhibited; lectured; showcased her art; or taught insect-art at many relevant esteemed venues, including the Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace, The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, R.H.S Wisley, the Natural History Museum, London and the Eden Project, Cornwall. She has also illustrated for Countryfile magazine, as well as provided insect artwork for the wildlife art agency, the “Wildlife Art Company”, headed up by renowned conservationist, Mark Cawardine.

Her art has also featured in various relevant conservation projects, both at home and abroad. In addition, she has appeared as an insect-art expert in the BBC series, “Art, Passion & Power”, exploring the diverse variety of art held in the Royal Collections, presented by the art historian, Andrew Graham-Dixon.
