Emily Joy is a sculptor and installation artist based at Stroud Valleys Artspace. For the last 8 years she has taught adults’ ceramic sculpture classes, children’s pottery classes and master-classes in mould-making, casting and paperclay.

Emily has a first class BA Hons ceramics and painting and a fine art sculpture MA, providing her students with a broad range of practical skills, materials experience and theoretical knowledge. She has a wide range of teaching experience including adults, children, adults with special needs and other barriers to learning. Emily strives to inspire her adult students to push themselves both materially and also conceptually, she encourages debate and critical discourse throughout the courses and workshops.

A founder member of the artist group Quercus, Emily was the 2008 winner of the Darbyshire Award and was also shortlisted for the 2012 Aesthetica Prize.
