Join graphic designer Emma Barnes on this two-hour workshop to discover the elegant craft of modern calligraphy

During this Christmassy session, you’ll cover key modern calligraphy basics: how to use the essential tools, mark-making drills, and alphabet practices before moving on to whole words. As the festive season approaches, the final piece for this workshop will be transferring the modern calligraphy skills you have learnt onto luggage and gift tags you've personalised. 

Emma from Emerald Paper Design will demonstrate each step of the way and be on hand for individual guidance. At the end of the class the worksheets and materials will all be yours to take away and keep practicing with.

You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Who is this workshop for?
Beginners and those who would like a refresher.

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.

You will be given worksheets, a nib and holder, and ink which are yours to take away at the end of the workshop.

Please bring something to take your work home in.

Meet Your Tutor - EMMA Barnes

Emma Barnes, the Creative Director behind Emerald Paper Design, has been a graphic designer for 14 years, working on numerous packaging & branding projects for household names. After creating a friend’s wedding invitation and other stationery, she decided to explore this newfound love and passion more, and that's when Emerald Paper was born.

Emma says, “I absolutely love what I do! Each day is different, whether I'm using my calligraphy skills to write place names onto unusual surfaces, or hand-finishing a bespoke wedding stationery order, designing a themed save the date or even creating a beer label for the stag do's own brew! I relish working with couples to create bespoke and unique designs to help make their day special and memorable”.
