Join textile designer Lichen Davenport for an inspiring and experimental one-day workshop exploring the creative possibilities of free-hand machine embroidery.
.In this hands-on session, Lichen will guide you through the process of transforming your creative ideas from paper to fabric. You will begin by sketching your own design before learning how to translate it into expressive stitched lines using a sewing machine. If you would prefer not to draw your own design, a selection of inspiring templates will be available to choose from; giving you plenty of ideas and a confident starting point.
Along the way you will experiment with a variety of threads, colours, and textures to bring your design to life in stitch. Whether you are completely new to machine embroidery or looking to expand your textile practice, this workshop offers a supportive and encouraging space to explore, play, and build confidence.
By the end of the day you will have created a beautiful textile sample to take home, or you may choose to embellish a garment or tote bag that you bring with you; giving new life to an existing piece in a creative and sustainable way.
