Join textiles specialist Mairi Gillies on this festive half day workshop to create your own beaded bauble.

Using a vibrant selection of ribbons, sequins, pins, and beads, Mairi will teach you step-by-step through the process of transforming a simple polystyrene shape into a unique and sparkling decoration. Throughout the workshop, you will learn how to layer trims, add embellishments, and design your own colour combinations, giving you the confidence to continue making at home.

While you’re decorating and beading, Mairi will share ideas on ornament design, colour play, and the joy of slow, hands-on crafting. As you chat with fellow makers, you will be encouraged to explore your personal style and discover the meditative benefits of decorative handwork.

You will leave this workshop with a beautifully finished bauble and the skills and inspiration to create more for gifts, celebrations, or your own tree. Whether you’re new to craft or looking to try something joyful and different, this workshop offers a fun and creative way to spend time making something truly special.

Meet Your Tutor - mairi gillie

Mairi is a textile specialist, educator and woven textile designer. Originally getting in to textiles at a young age, it was during her BA Hons degree in woven textile design at Central Saint Martins where she found her love for weaving.

Mairi has worked as a freelance designer across both sectors of interior and fashion textiles, including exhibiting her woven textiles during London Fashion week and having her textiles featured in ELLE UK.
