Join silversmith Charlotte Duckworth on this day workshop to create your own Russian ring and discover the traditional jewellery-making techniques used to transform silver into a unique piece of jewellery.
You'll begin by exploring different design ideas, with sample rings and images to help inspire your own piece. Charlotte will guide you through the possibilities and help you develop a personal design using the silver and materials provided.
You'll then get hands-on with traditional silversmithing tools and techniques. Learn how to measure, cut and shape silver before using hammers to form and work the metal. If you'd like to add texture to your rings, you'll have the opportunity to practise different hammering and texturing techniques on copper before committing to your final design.
Charlotte will guide you step by step as you form and solder your silver, gradually bringing the individual rings together to create your finished Russian ring. You'll then refine and finish your jewellery, ready to wear or give as a unique handmade gift.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have gained an introduction to traditional jewellery-making techniques including cutting, shaping, hammering, texturing and soldering silver. Best of all, you'll leave wearing your own handmade Russian ring, created entirely by you.
