Join enameller Sinéad O’Connor on this 3-day immersive workshop to learn the craft of enamelling.

In this workshop Sinéad will teach you how to prepare copper to apply enamel (ground glass) in different styles with different techniques. After creating test tiles to learn the skills, you will then progress to create your own enamelled copper earrings or pendants. The 3 days will be structured to give dedicated time to master the skills and techniques.

Day 1- Foundations

Preparing enamel and copper.

Applying enamel using traditional sieving.

Intro to firing – hand‑held torches and creative over‑firing in the kiln.

Adding texture with hammers and stencils.

Day 2 – Mixing Techniques

Blending different enamel types for varied effects.

Using silver foil and silver leaf for decorative touches.

Day 3 – Expressive Enamelling

Trying a “water‑colour” style of enamel application.

Painting directly with enamel for more fluid, expressive results.

Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

You will leave this workshop with fundamental skills in enamelling and unique hand crafted jewellery to enjoy and wear for years to come.

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.

You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for beginners.

What you will need:
Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy!

Please remove jewellery and tie hair back and wear closed toe shoes.

All materials and tools are provided - enamel and copper for test tiles, plus copper for two pairs or earring and two pendants included. Silver earring wire hooks and silver chains will be available to buy at cost price during the course to turn the pieces into jewellery, and extra copper blanks to create more if wanted.

Sinéad O’Connor is an award winning enameller with a previous career in teaching. A member of the Guild of Enamelling Sinéad passionately believes in sharing her knowledge and introducing as many people as possible to enamelling. Sinéad’s enamelled work has been exhibited around the country. Sinéad’s works from her studio in Krowji creative space in Cornwall.
