Join jewellery maker Lynne Fisher for a day of jewellery making and discover how to create your own pieces using silver clay.

You'll begin by learning how to prepare, handle and roll silver clay before exploring a selection of textures and cutters to develop your own designs. Choose to create a fine silver pendant, a pair of drop earrings, or a combination of smaller jewellery pieces.

Lynne will guide you through adding texture and embellishments to personalise your jewellery. You'll learn how to shape and refine your pieces, prepare them for firing and add holes for jump rings and fittings.

Your pieces will then be kiln-fired, transforming the silver clay into fine silver. After a late lunch break (lunch not included, we recommend our on-site cafe), you'll return to your fired jewellery and learn how to finish and polish each piece, bringing the surface to a beautiful mirror shine.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have gained an introduction to working with silver clay and followed the process from initial design through to firing and finishing. You'll leave with your own unique pieces of fine silver jewellery, ready to wear and enjoy.

You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for beginners.

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.

What you will need:
All materials and equipment are included.

Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. You will be using a blow torch, so please avoid loose fitted sleeves.

Please tie long hair back.

If you need corrective glasses for close work please bring them along. It will really help you with the small pieces involved, and in the refining and finishing stages.

Lynne has a background in chemistry and was immediately hooked by silver clay, loving the alchemy of 'clay' to pure silver. She is drawn to its ability to pick up texture and enjoys using natural textures in her creations.
