Join artist Laurie Plant in this two-day immersive workshop to learn the techniques to draw and paint Cirencester’s historic church.

Over the course of 2-days Laurie will provide a supportive and friendly space to learn the fundamentals needed to draw architecture, focusing on the church inside and out.

You will explore the church interior and exterior to make 15-minute sketches, as well as larger hour-long drawings to practice different observation methods and techniques, using pencil, charcoal, pastel and watercolour. Laurie will provide, demos and examples to help you learn along the way, focusing on proportion and perspective.

You will draw the exterior of the church from different viewpoints like the graveyard and the Abbey Grounds. You will then be encouraged to focus on smaller details such as a chapel or window.

You will leave this workshop with a new found confidence and the fundamental skills for drawing architecture that can be transferred to further drawing. You will have started a collection of drawings in your own sketchbook to inspire you to continue your architectural drawing journey.
