Join artist Justine Osborne, known for her distinctive dog artwork, for a day of expressive drawing inspired by one of our most characterful subjects, the dog.
This workshop explores canine movement, posture and personality through loose observational drawing using both a live dog model and your own photographic reference.
In the morning, you will work directly from a life model dog, using charcoal and other dry materials to create quick, gestural sketches. Through a series of short exercises, you will be encouraged to loosen up your mark-making, respond instinctively, and capture energy, rhythm and presence rather than focusing on fine detail.
In the afternoon, you will build on these techniques by working from your own dog photographs, developing more sustained drawings that translate photographic reference into artwork with life, atmosphere and individuality.
You will leave this workshop with more confidence in observational drawing, having developed a freer, more intuitive approach to mark-making.
